Liberal theologian William Ellery Channing once observed, “The cry has been that when war is declared,
all opposition should be hushed. They no longer even try to hide it.The evidence of this calculated assault on free speech is overwhelming, but the most recent and high-profile examples include carefully orchestrated campaigns by three well-funded, connected, George Soros-linked organizations: Media Matters for America (MMFA); and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).After years of trying to censor the conservative voice of Rush Limbaugh, for instance, the George Soros-funded Media Matters recently pulled out all the stops to get him booted from the airwaves. The pretext was Limbaugh’s unfortunate word choice in describing Georgetown “reproductive justice” radical Sandra Fluke’s attempt to compel the Jesuit university to violate its own Catholic doctrine.

This is the price the Right pays for doing the right thing. The most

visible target is Gov. Scott Walker, who faces recall on June 5 over his tough package of state budget and public employee union reforms. A fourth target, staunch union reformer and Second Amendment advocate Sen. Pam Galloway, announced she was stepping down last week — leaving the legislature deadlocked and Democratic strategists salivating.Walker and the GOP majority ended the union compulsory dues racket, allowed workers to choose whether to join a union, curtailed costly bargaining rights and enacted pension and health contribution requirements to bring the government in line with private-sector practices.

El Paso Mayor to Indict Voters Who Don’t Support His Agenda?

Not pleased that his policies were thwarted by the people, Cook went to the City  gas pricesCouncil again and instituted the benefits anyway, basically telling the people whom he represents that they’re not running the show—rather, he is.Making matters worse, Cook himself cast the tie-breaking vote in the City Council vote that “overrode” the referendum and the will of the people. As a result, various citizens, including pastors, people associated with ministries, and pro-family groups throughout the city, have united and collected the signatures needed to hold accountable public officials who threw out their vote. Just as President Obama has ignored the rule of law and the will of the American people via his abortion pill/birth control mandate, so too the mayor has run roughshod over the citizens of El Paso and doesn’t plan to do anything but continue his stampede. The very mayor who told one woman at a city council meeting, “You can take your freedom of speech outside,” is not about to be challenged. We have to remember—for ideologues, the vision they want to implement is always more important than the people they represent.  read more

Where is Unemployment Headed? – Mike Shedlock

Quick Notes About the Unemployment Rate

In the last year, the civilian population rose by 3,584,000. Yet the labor force only rose by 1,569,000. Those not in the labor force rose by 2,014,000.

In February, the Civilian Labor Force rose by 476,000.

In February, those “Not in Labor Force” decreased by 310,000. If you are not in the labor force, you are not counted as unemployed.

Participation Rate rose .2 to 63.9%

Were it not for people dropping out of the labor force, the unemployment rate would be well over 11%.

Over the past several years people have dropped out of the labor force at an astounding, almost unbelievable rate, holding the unemployment rate artificially low. Some of this was due to major revisions last month on account of the 2010 census finally factored in. However, most of it is simply economic weakness.
