Justice rebuffs Panthers subpoena

The Justice Department refused Tuesday to turn over most of the information and documents sought by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights explaining why a civil complaint was dismissed against members of the New Black Panther Party who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place in the November 2008 elections.

Berkeley High May Cut Out Science Labs

Berkeley High School is considering a controversial proposal to eliminate science labs and the five science teachers who teach them to free up more resources to help struggling students.

Paul Gibson, an alternate parent representative on the School Governance Council, said that information presented at council meetings suggests that the science labs were largely classes for white students.

Taiwanese firm says it sent nuclear parts to Iran – While Obama sleeps

A Taiwanese firm agreed to a request from a company in China to procure sensitive components with nuclear uses and then shipped them to Iran at the Chinese company’s request, the firm’s head said Friday. Such transactions violate U.N. sanctions imposed on Iran.
